[geek] eXeem in Public Beta
eXeem™ is a brand new Peer-To-Peer program, which is based on the BitTorrent idea. eXeem™ eliminates the need for trackers as nodes in the program will be taking their role. eXeem™ also features easy publication of files to the network as well as a rating and comments system. eXeem™ contains NO SPYWARE. eXeem™ is free and is ad-supported. eXeem™ is currently still in its beta testing phase, which means that the network might not be completely stable yet. You are still very welcome to give eXeem™ a try and see how it is different from other Peer-To-Peer programs.

Based on the Swarming Effect of BitTorrent. Now we can search a decentralized Torrent network!
Think of it this way - when you want a file the clients (aka peers) which have pieces of that file will ’swarm’ you with it. Together they will furnish you with a completed file. This swarming effect is managed by a metadata file called a torrent which lists the clients with corresponding files (known as a seed) to contribute. Because torrents govern the process, the word torrent is also used as the name for this type of download.

It’s in 0.21 Public Beta mode, it’s working!
It’s really fast!
There are many files and people out there!
Okay, so think of this:
You want to download, say, a big server patch for a vulnerability, from the apache server site.
Many people are downloading it.
And it’s torrented, by a .torrent extension.
You would download it using BitTorrent or eXeem, and this would happen:
The file would be broken up. This is basically the brainchild of the Swarming Effect.
Then, like some download managers, there would be “jets” created from other users downloading the .torrent file, so you get peices and pieces from other people. So you take part of this file from one person, part from another, and it goes really fast. Also, you contribute by letting other people take parts of your torrent file.
That’s how it basically works, but here’s a diagram:

There you go, the more people downloading the torrent, the faster. Sort of the opposite of downloading regularly.
