LiveWindow, Firefox Hacks

Filed under: General - Shuai @ 7:12 pm

Overview
LiveWindow is a project that attempts to translate the physicality of the real world into the virtual. By viewing LiveWindow on the web, a visitor can see a visual representation of the state of the physical space at anytime.
http://www.coin-operated.com/projects/livewindow.html

Four years before the Apple Powerbook got “motion sensored” (and repurposed), Jonah Brucker-Cohen’s LiveWindow installation attempted to translate the physicality of the real world into the virtual. Any vibration on the floor around the computer was relayed to a browser window which could be accessed via Internet. If the room sensed vibration, the window began to shake, and its text to fall down.

The Queen of England’s Party

Filed under: General - Shuai @ 6:53 pm

The Queen of England threw a party March 9 (I know this is old, but it’s interesting!), and invited British musicians. They included the legendary Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Brian May among others. Well, apparently they are not quite legendary enough. When the queen met them, she asked “And what do you do?” She even asked Clapton, “Have you been playing for long?” He replied “…about 45 years.”

Finally, BlogSome, our Awesome WordPress Blog Host, upgrade to WordPress1.5! This was not an easy job for forger and his team, because the popularity of BlogSome made them go from 0 blogs to 1,000 blogs! They have to move 1,000 blogs over, so we have a sitting ovation!

THANK YOU BLOGSOME!

This new one has MORE FEATURES!!!! now, I don’t have to go to some other blog host and type everything up all over again or etc. Through the week, there may be some outages and some mySQL errors, these are just due to the FURTHER upgrades they are making. YES!

Pharos SignUp VX3.

Filed under: General - Shuai @ 5:48 pm

Okay, so I go to the library today, and I see this thing my friend tells me about. A program that restricts you from using the computer for more than 1 hour. A program so malicious, it’ll blow my mind. It’s on every library computer. It’s total BS.

http://img48.exs.cx/img48/3811/pharos9oc.jpg

There is a picture of it, another one here, see it basically TAKING OVER WINDOWS!:
Okay never mind, it doesn’t work!!! Here’s a shout out to Pharos: YOU SUCK!

Pharos SignUp is a PC reservation and management application that addresses the PC scheduling needs of public libraries and higher education labs and libraries. SignUp creates a self-service environment by allowing patrons and students to make their own reservations for PC usage. As with other Pharos products, SignUp is very robust, highly scalable and interfaces to a number of patron databases, automated library systems, third party databases and authentication systems.

Well, I can tell where Pharos SignUp vx3 to stick it.

Also, it deletes everything in the MyDocuments folder when you log off! Now, there’s a small text document that tells you what it does. I saved a little thing that said something in it and then saved it. Now, let me see if it works.

Here’s the plan. HEXADECIMAL RANDOM NUMBERS. Generated by Random.Org, here’s something that’ll go pretty well.

Now, that’s good. Now to integrate the learning.

Okay, so if anyone can find a HACK for it, this will be great. I’d like to hack it.

Firefox 1.0.2 Problems?

Filed under: General - Shuai @ 3:33 pm

Ever since I upgraded to Firefox 1.0.2, I’ve been having problems with some of my extensions not working, for example SmoothWheel and Tabbrowser Preferences.  Also, sometimes Firefox won’t start up.  It’ll just be "working" with a blank screen and messed-up toolbars.  I hate this PC I got new for a discount, probably there was a RAM downgrade with the computer. I have like 5000 processes running for some reason too.

Firefox Commerical

Filed under: General - Shuai @ 9:00 pm

firefox commercial
This is cool!  But would you think Mozilla will use it?
Weird though, but still cool.
Power, Simplicity, Safety, Flexibility, that IS what Firefox is for!
Wonder if Opera would have commercials, well, Opera is to pay for, so….
I think they should do better, but it’s impressive.

Better Plans for JGiannotti!

Filed under: General - Shuai @ 7:03 pm

JGiannotti has made better plans!
Now, the storage space for small is 250mb!
Medium is 500mb!
Large is 1000mb!
Extra is a whopping 2000mb, equal to 2gb!

Awesome!

Your Web Host: JGiannotti

Filed under: General - Shuai @ 1:15 pm

I’ve seen lots of web hosts, expensive and otherwise, but I think JGiannotti is the bang for the buck.
http://www.jgiannotti.com/
He offers great web hosting packages.
The small package boasts 100mb web space, a domain name, PHPMyAdmin, MYSQL, as much bandwidth as needed, Spam Assassin, PHPNuke, unlimited @yourdomain.com addresses, and ivision message boards.
$10 for domain name setup,
$5 per month, or $70 for the year.

Then, it gets better with the Medium, Big, and Extra.

ALL packages come with CPanel [http://www.cpanel.net]!

Go ahead!
