MSN Start Page.

Filed under: General, The Daily Link!, Random Thoughts - Shuai @ 9:22 pm

Just another start page. Something like the Google start page, but looks better.
MSN Start Page (convenientely placed at www.start.com) is pretty cool. Third version of the start series.
To “start”, go to http://www.start.com/3/ and answer the questions that boasts about the MSN search technology. When you’re done, you’re presented with a link to the start page.

If you really don’t feel like doing that 5 question quiz, click here. (hehe)

Looks great. Integrates with the MSN search. With some cool links, and you can integrate it into your dashboard. Very cool. But all of the news items are feeds. Heh. Of course.

I guess you can use this as your start page, if you don’t mind the MSN searching. I added it to my handful of Firefox homepages.

Next thing, there is a site called BillGatesIsDead.com. As you probably know, it is a stupid site. As you probably also know, Bill Gates is not dead.
This Jack Purdue guy here curating is a stupid person.

News stories: point into his cgi-bin, and uses this setup:
http://www%2Elatimes%2Ecom@209.61.162.98/news/front/20000420/t000012986.html or http://www.latimes.com@209.61.162.98/news/front/20000420/t000012986.html
(links disabled)
Oldest trick in the book. Seems like this guy’s IP is precisely 209.61.162.98. Or something like that. This is NOT the real link, this is going to trick someone to thinking that this is the real one.
Plus, the links don’t even work.

The video guy could be some other guy dressed as him, in the “Citizens for Truth” video.

If he is dead, how can he write a book in 2001, two years he was “killed”?

A few years ago, I went to this site. Thinking it was stupid, I went into discussion.

RE: He is NOT Dead.

Calm Down. I am a computer expert, Here. He is my best hero. I read about 50 books on him. He is my american dream, too. I have proof that Bill Gates was a tragic victim. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/billgates/bio.asp. Go the beginning of the seventh paragraph. It says:

In 1999, Gates wrote Business @ the Speed of Thought, a book that shows how computer technology can solve business problems in fundamentally new ways. The book was published in 25 languages and is available in more than 60 countries. Business @ the Speed of Thought has received wide critical acclaim, and was listed on the best-seller lists of the New York Times, USA Today, the Wall Street Journal and Amazon.com.

How can he write a book-a FULL book when he is dead?!?!

A computer Expert

(of course, so many years ago, I was so full of myself. Now the links do not work.)

Anyway, now, I emailed Jack Perdue with this:

Dear Jack Perdue:
I am now fully convinced that BILL GATES IS NOT DEAD. I am sorry. I don’t believe it. Let’s see if you can get YOUR news articles working on the front page first, and then let’s see if you can actually get REAL articles, not from your cgi-bin, from the REAL articles, and then let’s see if I can believe it.
You say you got proof? It is 2005 here, buddy. Not 2003. 2005. 2005. 2005. 2005. 2005. 2005. 2005. 2005. 2005. 2005. 2005. Your site was last updated 2003. Gates was “killed 1999″.
The “proof” video is completely fictious. Could that be another person right there? Huh? I am currently awaiting a reply email from my friend Bill Gates right now, as I have his email, of course.

You are very stupid to waste money setting up a site like this, plus the citizens for truth, plus a video to “prove” this.

Now, focus on this part.

Not accepting mail for this account : Account Inactive

It is what it is. Account inactive. End of story.

The question is: why did Perdue set up a useless website that I had wasted an hour of my life, an hour that I will never see again, researching on? One would think that Jack was jealous of Gates. I think not.

Would I be crazy to think that Perdue was planning to assassinate Gates? Probably, I would not believe it myself.

People say that there’s a Google Calendar coming along.  What do you think?
We already have Micro$oft Works calendar, Mozilla Sunbird [yea!], but do we need a Google one?
Let me direct you to my friend Jeremy Zawondy whoever he is:

Kapsules. Widgets. Dig it.
Kapsules is a program that uses widgets.
Display the widgets as a clock, weather thing, sports thing, and more.
Go to the widget forge to get more widgets.
If you are good with scripting, you can make your own widgets!

I think this is better than widgetset competitor Konfabulator, because it has like a 15day trial.
These widgets are also fast and run silently in the background.

Get Kapsules!

I’ll try to make these on my own, but now….

Spam

Filed under: General, iCritiq, The Daily Link!, System of a Download - Shuai @ 3:36 pm

44 spam today. Just checked mail in a long time.

Today’s Download:
Gmail Drive!
Turn your gmail account into a 1gb hard drive!
Download Here

Ever since Google started to offer users a GMail e-mail account, which includes storage space of a 1000 megabytes, you have had plenty of storage space but not a lot to fill it up with. With GMail Drive you can easily copy files to your GMail account and retrieve them again.
When you create a new file using GMail Drive, it generates an e-mail and posts it to your account. The e-mail appears in your normal Inbox folder, and the file is attached as an e-mail attachment. GMail Drive periodically checks your mail account (using the GMail search function) to see if new files have arrived and to rebuild the directory structures. But basically GMail Drive acts as any other hard-drive installed on your computer.
You can copy files to and from the GMail Drive folder simply by using drag’n'drop like you’re used to with the normal Explorer folders.

Keep in mind that this is freeware and may include spyware and/or adware. Be sure to read the End User Liscense Agreement.

Today’s Site of the Day:
SHOCKSTART
Where you can manage your links online!
It’s like an online bookmark folder.
Just need a valid email address, and you’re ready to start linking!

Put the shockstart quicklink on your bookmark folder in IE, or the bookmarks toolbar in Firefox, and you get a popup that adds a link quickly.

Thursday’s Download of the Day! …and link!

Filed under: General, The Daily Link!, System of a Download - Shuai @ 9:05 pm

Yeah, tomorrow’s software, today!….

I’m just going to do tomorrow’s today.

Today’s Download of the Day is….
Microsoft Virtual Desktop Manager!
For Windows, of course.

Use up to 4 [yes, that’s FOUR] virtual desktops! You now have the virtual power of FOUR desktops!
HAHA! Never thought this was possible? Now it is!
[I sound like an infomercial….]

This is one of the many great powertoys for Windows XP!

But it gets better! Click the green button on the taskbar and see an overview of all four desktops! Click on one of them, and you go to that desktop!

WOW!
To get this powertoy, go to the website, go on the right side, see where it says deskman, and click download.

Then, install it, and then right click on your taskbar and go to toolbars, then click Desktop Manager. Then, it’s right next to the system tray!

Here’s some screenshots!
msvdm_s.gif (GIF Image, 300x225 pixels)

You can also have different desktop wallpapers for the different desktops!
msvdm.jpg (JPEG Image, 573x591 pixels)

You can also configure the shortcut keys!

Here’s a japanese screenshot:
msvdm2.gif (GIF Image, 356x168 pixels)

So what are you waiting for….pick up MSVDM!

Also, here’s the daily link….

Here’s a place where you can get torrents for bittorrent.

Cool!

!!!!
Today’s Download of the Day is:
BitTorrent!

This I already explained, along with eXeem.

Today’s Daily Link is:
iSketch!
iSketch is kind of like online pictionary, only, er, online. You play it by going to
iSketch.net and login with a username [no password].

Then you see lots of lobbies, and then you go into one. You just guess what the drawer is trying to draw, and if you guess right, you get points.

When you get there, it’s easier to understand because it’s pretty self-explanatory. You can also make your own rooms and train-draw.

It’s fun, and that’s why it’s today’s Download of the Day
